CA Pool Tile Inc.
does not offer pool service maintenance at this time, but we would
like to offer a few basic pool cleaning tips that can save you time and money.
|
What is Pool Tile for? Besides
being a beautiful addition to any pool, pool tile was implemented to
provide an area (above the pool wall) where the water level could
rise and fall safely. Walls of a pool are made out
of materials that will damage if they are wet and then dried
repeatedly. Therefore, tile was placed
on the pool walls as a long-lasting plane for the pool's
fluctuating water level.
Tile is specifically used for its beauty and resilience in wet/dry
situations. |

Pool Cleaning
Procedures
-
Around the Pool:
Try to keep your deck and pool cover free of debris. With wind and
moisture, debris from these areas can enter your pool, and rot your pool
cover and decking.
-
Debris in pool: If possible, try to catch the debris while it is still on the surface
of the pool's water. It is much harder to remove once it sinks to the
bottom of the pool. Making this a daily practice is a great way to
protect
your pool for years to come.
-
Skimmer Cleaning:
When cleaning your skimmer out, make sure to dump contents into a trashbag or
trashcan. Throwing contents into garden areas or lawns will often
result in the debris particles drying out and returning to the pool with
the next wind.
-
Hint: Before skimming out the debris in
your pool, take an outside hose and gently wash down all the side tile
areas. Tile acts like a magnet for small pieces of debris and a
wash-down will
push debris away and make it visible for clean-up. A
professional leaf rake with a plastic rubber edge is perfect for
this job. This item can be purchased at most pool supply shops.
-
Surface Cleaning:
If you notice scum or dirt on your pool waters surface, you can make
removing it a lot easier by squirting a quick shot of tile soap down the
center of your pool. This will cause the scum to move away from the center
and towards the sides, therefore allowing you to skim out the debris
easier.
-
Pool Wall Cleaning:
Always use a pool brush specifically designed for pools and spas, and
ONLY use pool/spa chemicals when cleaning your pool. When cleaning algae
off of your pool's walls, brush from the top of the wall down in long,
strong strokes. After you complete the walls of the pool, it is a good
idea to vacuum up the algae from the bottom of your pool (use only a
designated POOL vacuum).
-
Water Level:
Your water level should remain within the tile margins. During the
winter months (with heavy rains) it may be necessary to lower the pools
water level so that it is not too high. In the summer months (with the
hot days) it may be necessary to raise the level to adjust for the
evaporation. Try to set a timer when adding/draining water from your
pool, so that you do not forget about it.
-
Equipment Filter:
You should check your pools equipment filter monthly. It is important to
remember to clean out your skimmer and/or strainer baskets. If your
skimmer/strainer baskets are full, your pools filter pressure will be
low and will not be able to do its job. If your filter pressure seems to
be reading high, you might need to clean the filter itself.
-
Equipment Heater:
It is important to check the equipment heater area for leaves and
debris. To see if the heater is functioning properly, turn the heater
off and then on again. Now, while the heater is on, turn the pump off.
The heater should automatically shut off once the pressure from the pump
drops.
-
Safety Check: Always keep your equipment area
free of leaves and debris as best you can, especially the heater
unit. It might be necessary to check under the unit or behind a
detachable door to the unit - leaves and debris can be blown into all
areas without your knowledge. This important check will help prevent any
possible fires that might occur. Also look for any leaks or signs of
wear and tear regularly.
-
Vacuuming:
(Note: Use only a designated POOL vacuum) When vacuuming your pool or
spa it is a good idea to start with the walls and steps, leaving the
bottom area for last. This will keep you from needing to re-vacuum the
bottom if any debris from the walls or steps falls. It is important
to go slow when vacuuming the bottom of the pool in order to not disturb
the debris collection before you are able to vacuum it up. If your pool
vacuum begins to lose suction, it is most likely due to the fullness of
the vacuums basket. You will need to clean out the basket and then
resume vacuuming.
